Ariel was my favourite princess growing up. I mean, just by the fact that she’s a mermaid makes her pretty high up on any little girl’s favourite list. But she also had red hair and that was pretty awesome! I had orange hair but everyone called it red (for reasons I still don’t understand) but I really loved being able to see someone who had a “different” hair colour as a princess. And the movie was released just when I was 2 so it was a staple in my house growing up.
As an adult, I can totally see my own life kind of mirroring Ariel’s – I fall for guys WAY too quickly and tend to be a ride-or-die type of girl in relationships. I mean, I probably would have totally taken up an offer from an evil sea witch for my one true love who I had only seen once and then fell madly in love with. If you read this blog then you are sure to find that pattern in my romantic relationships over the last 5 years…
The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie. It was playing when I worked in a movie theater and I saw it countless times. Sebastian was my fav character though. Haha!

How did Ariel break the cycle? I can’t remember having seen more than snatches of it.

Break which cycle?

The one with hooking up with the wrong guy.

LOL. I was hoping she broke hers and you could use her method. Oh well.

Haha oh no, she falls inlove at 16 with an older guy after seeing him once, sells her voice to a sea witch for legs, and then spends 3 days trying to get him to kiss her and then marries him 🤷♀️

Were you following my blog back when I did my Dater’s Guide to Disney Princesses? I always thought the one I did for Ariel was pretty good…

My daughters were all born around the time this film came out, but we never went to see this film or get a copy on VHS. We had a bunch of other Disney films. I can’t recall them being into any Princess type films other than Beauty and the Beast.
I always fell in love too quickly. Probably still would at my age now if I weren’t married.

Oh my goodness I was ALL about the princess films haha After my most recent breakup, a friend of mine wisely pointed out that I might get over attached way too quickly because I live a life where I have a void of other human connection (work, home, weekends are at home, stopped going to church for various reasons) so when I start to date someone the feelings are intense and way too fast to fill that void? It totally makes sense so I am trying to be more social except I dislike doing things in my free time HAHA I’m a work in progress lol

My daughter loved Ariel! She always was trying to sing like her! I might just have to see if I can find the movie and rewatch it again soon! Good luck with the rest of the challenge!

I haven’t seen this since I babysit two girls for some friends back in about 97 or 98 – needless to say, I don’t remember the movie at all, lol.

Gotta confess that I crushed on Ariel when I was a kid. I had a thing for redheads, and the sea.

Well redheads are kinda the best. But I’m totally biased haha
