Sunday Scribblings #83

Aaron’s word of inspiration this week is poinsettia.

I’m not really a big fan of poinsettias during the holidays. For one thing, they are toxic to animals, so just bringing them into your house could be a huge disaster. But then what do you do with them? They are pretty for a little bit then lose all their petals and you have to wait until next year for them to bloom again. And yes, while this IS how all plants work, because of the weather in Canada, I am pretty sure that you can’t even plant them outside to help them grow on their own….please correct me if I’m wrong but I’m just gonna say that I’m correct and not google to find out.

Anyway, so they are pretty for what? 3 weeks and then just stems for the rest of the year. Oooo what a waste. The white ones are super pretty though haha

Here is a pretty picture of one for you.

  2. My dad was a florist and we used to have a poinsettia plant growing in the front yard. It was his pride and joy. We also used to deliver bunches of potted poinsettia plants to the church so they could decorate the altar. It was fun as a kid to think that we had helped do that.
