Another month of life!

I am surprised I have so much to share.

Well let’s just get all caught up shall we?

Ontario is back under stay at home orders, this doesn’t affect life in Toronto much. We’ve been in the grey zone since mid-November LOL. Although it means that I can’t go in libraries again. Schools are in remote learning “indefinitely until things improve” so I continue to work from home.

I was FINALLY able to book a vaccine. Starting on April 12th, teachers who work in hot spots were eligible and since I live and work in the same hot spot, I jumped on it! My first dose is May 6th, 2nd August 26th.

MY BIRTHDAY WAS YESTERDAY! My dad sent me money which was a surprise because I told my mom I didn’t want anything. So I did some online shopping! NEW TOPS FOR WORK! YAY! In February, in an attempt to streamline my finances (PS I paid off one of my student loans on Monday!) I got rid of Disney+ but only after did I realize how many “non-typical Disney” things there were that I wanted to watch. I pay for Netflix for me and my brother since he got his new house, and for my birthday he got us a Disney+ account. Which he gave me a ridiculous name but it’s cute and I love it. A student dropped a hand made card and painted rock to my front door (just dropped didn’t knock which was nice because students typically aren’t supposed to know where I live) and a student from last year sent me an email of him singing Happy Birthday (actually his mom did) and it brought me to tears! I got a free Starbucks coffee, ordered Red Lobster for dinner and got an ice cream cake which I will be eating for at LEAST the next week. I might have to make some pieces smaller because oh my gosh I am just not used to eating so much food anymore.

ANNNNNNNDDDDDDD my ex-cuddle buddy popped up. I get a text from a number that wasn’t saved in my phone and I’m thinking oh no it’s another Instagram episode. The person said happy birthday so I replied “thank you soo much!!! but who is this?” LOL Classy I know…But it was the guy that we had an on again, off again, for a few months and finally I just had enough. I can’t believe he remembered. E didn’t even message me when I was SURE he would. But I haven’t talked to Cuddle Buddy since August and here he is?! It was nice conversation until I said goodnight and told him not to be a stranger and then we kind of had a real talk moment. Apparently I really hurt him last summer when we stopped talking but he never talks about his feelings so how is a person supposed to know?! Anyway, maybe we are good now, maybe not. It was just nice that he popped up on my birthday because I LOOOOVVVVEEEE my birthday.

A lot of job postings are closing this week since IT’S SPRING BREAK! So I am hoping to hear back from a few over the next week and get some interviews set up.

A month ago I made a post about it being a whole year since I had been in a library. I got to go in twice and now we are back to “no one is allowed in the library”. lol

But since that last post, I have read more books! So here they are ranked out of 5 stars.

Crazy Stupid Bromance – 5: super cute! Book 3 from this series and I can’t wait for #4 because it’s going to be one of the characters that I just LOVE from the series so far!

A streetcat named Bob – 3.5: recommended by a random connection I have with someone. A girl told him to read it, he doesn’t read so he told me. Weirdo. It was ok. Like not amazing but ok.

Ready Player One – 4: This was just ok. Like I got into it fine and I skimmed a lot of the “gamey technology” but the story was interesting.

My favourite half-night stand – 5: YES! I LOVED IT! SOOOOOOO cuuuuutttteeee Oh my goodness.

The art of racing in the rain – 3: a story told by a dog about his life? Meh. One of those “I am dying, let’s go back over my entire life” books. It takes away some of the magic when I know the end before it gets started.

The Flatshare – 4: I almost didn’t finish this one! The style of writing took a while to get into but once I did, I enjoyed it. And I finished it really quickly, like in a day or something lol.

The magic strings of Frankie Presto – 4.5: Pretty good. A story told from the perspective of music. Not a person or creature, but like Music. Again another “this person had died, let’s remember his life” type thing. But a better story than the dog’s lol

The Talisman – DNF: I’m sorry to the person who recommended this. I made it through MAYBE 20 pages and I threw it off. I couldn’t do it. I tried! Not very hard but I went back to it THREE TIMES. That’s all I can give it lol.

This brings my total books read since January 13th up to 20! I am counting the ones I didn’t finish. My blog, my rules! I am picking up 5 more tomorrow.

But this also means that I have basically exhausted my list of book suggestions!

If you have any please drop me a comment or an email I would love to hear them! Otherwise I just have 12 books on the Armenian genocide in my saved list pile and I’m not sure I can handle off of them all at once LOL I promise to give anything a try that isn’t horror. Thriller is ok, but no horror. Thank you for your consideration xoxo

  1. Have you seen the movie Ready Player One? Good movie πŸ™‚ No idea how close to the book it is cause I haven’t read it.

And I have a bucket load of books to recommend, especially if you like cozies? But I can also recommend a heap of romance if that’s more your bailiwick? Or police procedural? Mystery? Thriller? You should put genre in brackets after the book title in your reviews so I have a better idea of what you like πŸ™‚

Maybe to get you started on something I’ll just pick one… Try dipping your toes into cozy waters with “Sprinkle With Murder” by Jenn McKinlay (book #1 in the Cupcake Bakery Mystery series).

    • I did see the movie! In theatres with my brother haha! The book has a lot more details obviously but I have forgotten the movie.

Lol honestly just recommend anything! I like just picking up a book and having no idea what its about LOL I will add your suggestion to my list ☺️☺️ but please feel free to give as many as you want haha just no horror.

      • I would never recommend horror, or anything scary because I can’t do it myself, lol. Have you read Nora Roberts or her alter ego JD Robb?

Start with #1 of JD Robb “Naked in Death” (futuristic police procedural)
And Nora Roberts has a bazillion options, so I’ll give two:
“Vision in White” #1 of 4 of the Bride Quartet (romance)
        “The Witness” (romantic suspense)

  2. Happy Belated Birthday!! I don’t know what you have read so here’s a bit of a range: Beauty Queens by Libba Bray, Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella, Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella, Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld.

Have you read much Agatha Christie? Those are always classic murder mysteries if you’re into that. How do you feel about fantasy/sci fi?

    • Thank you!! I have added your 4 suggestions to my list!

Agatha Christie – I have tried but not really into it. But I am open to trying again!

Fantasy/sci fi I enjoy but it all depends on the author and the story haha

        • Haha I can try again! I’ll get to at least a few of your suggestions by my next post πŸ˜‰ another blogger friend suggested a different Sophie Kinsella book from the ones you suggested! Haha I’ll have to mix those suggestions with others haha

    • Oooo congrats! I keep seeing like celebs getting it now and I have this momentary burst of anger “ooooooooo SUUUREEEE Ryan Reynolds can get vaccinated but a teacher who is being forced to work isn’t eligible?” But then I remember they are all in the USA lol 😫

I have at least two more of your books in my bag from my pick up yesterday! And one more (the last I think) that I am like hold number 220 or something LOL
