What up my loves! I took some of y’all’s advice (is y’all’s a word? It is now!) and decided that in order to put a spin on my craptacular mood yesterday, that I needed to do my nails.
And it totally worked. Like I’m seriously disappointed in how they turned out, but it was relaxing and fun and now I have pretty nails to look at and not be sad cos I’m not getting a text I want or I have no energy from dealing with the roommate.
I knew that I was only going to have these nails for about a week before Halloween so I wanted something good for school but also something that could stay on for another week or so after the holiday. My students all know that I LOVE nail art (it was in my teacher introduction letter lol) so the minute I walk into school with new nails they will always notice. The girls are on top of it!
Here’s the design that inspired me!
I had all the colours except for an orange glitter. I had a copper glitter which I was going to use but it’s not so orangey. Thankfully, I was at the drug store this week and bought an orange!! I have no problems mixing colours so it was all good.
Anyway, here is the video of my attempt to do these nails.
To say it was a failure is an understatement. I had to remove four nails and start from scratch! FOUR NAILS!!! And of course, I used regular polish not gel so I literally had to remove all the layers all the way down and start again. But that’s fine.
Really what bothered me was the pumpkins. I didn’t get the detailing right. And it looked horrible.
I didn’t look at the inspiration picture before I started my design so I forgot about the full glitter nail. I only realized that I had forgotten it after when I was sending pictures of the pumpkins to my bestie and a male friend (platonic) to see what they said. I need the opinion of both genders sometimes, because I always know my bestie will say they look good. Thankfully he is all about the straight up honesty and he told me they looked horrible because they did!! So off they came. I mixed up another batch of copper glitter and orange and did a straight glitter nail.
It’s not AS festive as pumpkins would have been but at least they are pretty and the contrast is nice and they will work for the holiday and still be a good choice after the 31st.
