I’m not sure if I skipped a question or used the same number twice, but last week was 37 and next week in my draft is 40 so today has to be 39! Sorry 38, I’m not sure what happened to you…
What do I need to be content?
This is a hard question. What exactly does content mean? Like just enough to be happy but still want to change my situation? Or being at a place where I don’t want or need to change my situation? I’m going to go with the first because I think we should all strive for better.
To be content, I don’t need a lot of things:
- a place to live
- money to cover my expenses
- my laptop with a wifi connection
That’s basically it.
If I have a place to live that has heat in the winter, an open window in the summer, with a place to cook and shower, then I’ll be ok. It doesn’t have to be an amazing place.
If I have a job that provides me with enough money to pay my bills and buy food, then that’s a pretty great thing. I hate stressing over money. And I don’t like to spend on things I don’t need, so I don’t need a job that will pay me lots and lots of money.
My laptop! That’s my free time right there! Movies, TV shows, writing. All those things make me so happy.
So if I can have all three of those things, then I am content. It doesn’t mean that I won’t try to make things better, but I wouldn’t be miserable.
What about you? What do you need to be content?

As much as I wish it weren’t true, I need a computer and/or smartphone. I can’t believe how reliant we’ve become on these things! But yeah, a place called home, enough income to pay the bills and a guitar.

I think I’d be ok without a phone if I had the laptop. Like I obviously need it for work but to be content? I’m not sure.

That’s about right. I think I’d need a phone too. Assuming you’re not talking about other people. To be content I’d just need those things. To be happy I’d need my family.

Hmmms yeah I think you’d have to include people in that list too? I’d need my brother and best friend lol

But another question: is content the same as happy?

To be content I need to know that someone smarter than me, who knows what is best for me (that excludes any human) is the person in control. I like thinking that whoever that person is, they don’t think just about me, but can also make things good for other people at the same time.

I think I’d add a furry companion to that list. I’ve found if I’m sitting at home alone and the dogs are with the hubby, I can get lonely, but when at least one of them is hanging out with me, that’s when I’m most content. 🙂

Aww that’s sweet! I don’t live with animals right now but I do work with them so my free time is nice without them. Mostly because they are big and LOUD and the quiet is a nice change haha
