#AtoZchallenge : Milk

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary blogging from A to Z challenge letter

I know I shouldn’t be here, but your lure is just too much. Sneaking around at 3am. This isn’t who I ever wanted to be. But I just have to have you. Sweet and delicious. You’re constantly taunting me. I know you’re there for me to take. And even worse that it’s when everyone is sleeping. Trying not to get caught.

Your curves are like a siren, calling me to you. Your aroma will pull me in, but also give me away. I just can’t help myself!

As I open the door, there you sit. Perfection on a plate. My mouth is already watering waiting for a taste.

I pull back the wrapping and stare at you. Wondering if I should or if I shouldn’t. I promised I wouldn’t do this anymore!

A grab a knife. Just a tiny taste! Well…maybe a large taste! I cut a HUGE slice of your chocolately goodness. Icing coating the edge of the knife, I scrape it onto the edge of the plate so I don’t waste anything.

I wash and dry the knife to leave no evidence. Perfectly wrap the rest of the cake and put it back into the fridge. No one will know that I was ever here.

I eat my piece in silence. Wash my plate and fork. Put them away too. My mouth is so dry. Your richness has betrayed me! I quickly drink a glass of milk to wash it down. Then I hear a rustle from upstairs. I freeze – not wanting to get caught. I sigh a sigh of relief as the house returns to quiet. The glass is cleaned and returned to it’s home in the cupboard.

I brush my teeth and rejoin you in bed. Peaceful. My mission has been complete.

The next morning I return to the scene. She’s standing there looking at me. Her face filled with disappointment, anger.

My eyes shift to her hand, holding the now warm carton of milk. Abort! Mission compromised!

Congratulations to all my A to Z friends who have made it this far! We’ve reached the half way point!! 13 down, 13 left to go! We can do it!!

  1. I love this. Very funny.

I have lived in Southeast Asia now for the last three years and miss foods like that. There is no decent cake here. Most of the people in China are lactose intolerant, so we couldn’t find cheese, real milk, or any other dairy products. They don’t know how to make bread and some moron introduced them to bacon, but told them to boil it. YUCK.

Now I’m in Vietnam and the food situation is significantly better, but they still don’t do sweet stuff. I miss cake.

Thanks for visiting my page. Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

I am at Transformed Nonconformist. I usually write humor pieces, but I am getting serious this month. I’m writing about people who have deeply impacted my life.

    • Thanks for popping over Brett!

If you’re looking for good cakes you should head to South Korea! I lived there for two years and they have AUH-MAZING cakes! I think it’s because they are very heavily Americanized (Starbucks, Dunking Donuts, Basking Robbins, McDonalds, etc) but I certainly didn’t miss cakes while I was there lol
