With Valentine’s Day approaching, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and do my nails up in a pretty design to work with the special day.
I never really celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I always love to have special Valentine’s Day nails. This year was no different. I found my inspiration about a week before making my video and I instantly fell in love with it! It was cute and simple, and something that I knew I could execute well.
Here is my inspiration picture:
I mean, come on! Look at how cute they are! And I love the soft blush/pinky colour that’s going on and not a very bold red like most Valentine’s designs.
I knew I couldn’t do it exactly the same as the picture. One reason is that I don’t have all those supplies. I have gems, but not flat ones. And I have heart gems but not that big, and again, not flat. And I don’t have those pearl looking gems for the white/pink nails. But I have creativity and flexibility and I decided to try my hand at it!
I used gel polish and regular polish for this design! OooooOOOOooooOOOO. I know! It’s something that I have been wanting to try for the longest time but never worked up the courage. But I did it this time! All the silver accents on my nails are regular polish. The only thing is that if I put the regular polish on my nail, and I mess up, there is no way to get it off without ruining the nail. So I had to be careful.
I knew the hearts were going to be the hardest part. I’ve done perfect hearts in the past using both gel and regular polish, but lately, it just doesn’t seem to be working for me. I’m not sure why. I tried to make my own heart stickers (like I did with the gingerbread men at Christmas) but the polish didn’t peel off the bag at all. So I knew I had to do it free-hand.
I guess I don’t have to ramble on any longer. Here is the video I made showing you all how to do this design. I kept it short and it’s just under 20 minutes!
Now the only thing that I would have changed for this design was the colour of pink that I used. I really wish that I had one that was closer to the inspiration picture. It would have been so much better! I still do really love my nails this time, and they look super cute and I’m really happy with how they turned out, but I’m just not sold on the colour. It’s just a little too pink for my tastes haha. If that’s even possible!
Here is the final product for you!
In a few weeks when the next video is uploaded, I’ll be doing a nature-inspired theme as per my cousin’s request.
I realized after watching your video that I hadn’t breathed in like 5 minutes because I was concentrating so hard so you didn’t mess up lol 😆

LOL!!! Thank you for your support! I don’t breathe sometimes too. Like when I was drawing the lines and the hearts – I definitely hold my breath 😂😂

I love the colour!
Okay, so this is going to be a strange comment, but the nails with the white and pink remind me of poke balls. I wonder if you’ll be able to capture any cute, fluffy critters!? 😉

Hehe that’s ok! I won’t expect a lot of people will watch the videos. Sometimes I use that to my advantage and just ramble about personal things while I’m doing my nails haha!!
And I really do like them! They are super cute!

Wowee, T, you’ve done an amazing job with your nails. I’m not a pink girl at all, but your nails are pretty.

I thought about the Poke ball too! I see what you mean about the pink, but I think you did an awesome job regardless, and that heart is fire!
