Nail Art Sunday: Christmas Week 6

It’s the last Sunday before Christmas, and I have saved the best design for last (at least I think so).

This week, the inspiration came from another blogger, Bex. She wanted to see gingerbread nails, so I have gingerbread nails for her!

Here is her inspiration picture:

I’ve got to say, I was a little intimidated by this design when I first saw it. I waited until the end because I needed lots of time to figure out how I was going to do this. And, it’s also very Christmasy so I wanted to make sure I saved that for closer to the holidays.

At first, I was going to do this as a gel polish design, but I also wanted to challenge myself to do it with regular polish so that you guys could see that you can do it at home with regular polish! And let me tell you – it can be done!! Because I did it, and I am LOVING my nails.

The one thing that I did that made this so much easier, was that I decided to make my own nail stickers. My intimidation of this design was because I didn’t want to have to draw all that on my non-dominant hand and have it look all gross for the holidays. A simple solution for that is to make your own nail art stickers. It was something that I had never tried before, and it worked out really great! I used a plastic bag and painted directly onto it with polish and let it dry before adding in details. The designs peel right off!

Okies so here is the video of me doing the whole design.

And here is the final product!

The faces on the gingies could be better, and they could be a little smaller, but overall I am so happy with these nails!

Next week I will do a reflection on all the designs and you’ll have a chance to let me know which ones are your favourites. But aside from that, I’ll be taking a little bit of a break from the nail art for about a month and allowing my nails to breath with no polish on them at all.

Merry Christmas!!
