Saturday Questions #1

Two posts, one day: let’s get right into this!

If you missed the introduction post, press pause and read this to get all caught up.

Today’s question asks what I’m thankful for.

I’m thankful for so many things in my life. Like I truly am. I’m thankful that I was born in a country where I’m allowed to be a woman and am free to make my own choices. I’m thankful those choices led me to be educated, opinionated, not exactly well-travelled but a little bit travelled, independent and happy with myself.

I’m thankful for my parents – who weren’t always perfect but they are the perfect parents for me. They were supportive and loving my entire childhood. I’ve never felt a lack of love in my house. And I’m thankful for my brother too (had to throw him in here) for turning out to be not only a brother but a really close friend.

I’m thankful for the job experiences I’ve had – even the bad ones. Because they have all given me a glimpse into who I am and who I want to be.

I’m thankful for all the guys in my life that have turned out to not be the right one for me. They’ve taught me what it takes for me to be happy in a relationship. Even the few that I have thought were the right one for me but they didn’t feel the same way about me. I learned what it felt like to love someone. Like really love them no matter what – their faults and mine, our fights and disagreements, how to communicate to work things out, how to be supportive and let someone support me. I know what that feels like to have that connection with someone now and I am really thankful for that. I’m also thankful for having to feel the loss of that – I don’t think I ever really appreciated that feeling of connection until that first time it was really real and then it was really gone and I had to pick myself up out of the puddle of tears and rebuild myself.

I’m thankful for all my friends who have turned out to be a waste of my time and all the ones who didn’t. Showing me that quality over quantity is always the best way to go.

I’m thankful that today it’s only 11 degrees right now and I have to wear long pants, socks, and a sweater. Fall is almost here!

I could go on and on, but I think I can stop there haha. It’s nice to sit back and try to list all the things that you’re thankful for. Maybe a little difficult for here because sometimes there are private things I’m thankful for that I’m not going to list even though they are really important to me. But that’s ok.

What are you thankful for today?
