Typety typety typety

I finally found out what I’m going to do with my two week holiday! I think you might have guessed, it’s writing.

Not on here. I’m still sticking to my 2 posts a week, but even that is like death for me right now. Maybe 3 years is the limit for this blog? I have never kept a blog longer than a few months before. Aside from my online journal to update my family and friends about my first contract in South Korea – and even that started off as a post every week, then every 2, then hardly anything. So I’m not saying this hasn’t been a success, it really has. And I’m not saying I’m giving up just yet, but I’m glad that I have scaled back, and I’m glad to have the breathing room.

Anyways, last Saturday, I was babysitting for the little guy that I will be nannying over the summer. On the way there, I saw this fire hydrant sitting outside a restaurant and thought “haha – that would make a great story!” Then I arrived at the house, and the little boy actually remembered me! We took a little walk down the street and we stopped at a house with lots of lawn ornaments which were frogs. He said something about one of the little ornaments and I instantly thought, “wow! That would make a GREAT story!” And I actually have already finished writing that one.

So I started writing it on Monday while at soccer with one of my current kidlets. It’s a cute little story.

And then I started a novel. I’ve written a few short stories here and there, contributed a few to a couple blogs over the last 2.5 years, but never attempted anything like a novel. And I’ve always wanted to write one! I mean – if Paris Hilton can get a book published, then so can I!

In high school that was my dream. To write a novel and be published. But then it seemed like every single person I knew was planning a novel. Literally everyone. I guess I did hang out with a lot of very artistic and creative people, but still. And they all had chapter summaries and character sheets and plotted out timelines. All I want to do is just sit and type. Maybe that’s part of my problem? I’m not organized enough? But none of them actually got past the planning stage so maybe they were too organized? Who knows.

So that’s my plan for those two weeks (plus a little sight-seeing) and for most of my free time now because I have like the whole thing written in my head. I just need to find a way to get it out and into the Google Doc that I have started (that way I can work on it at work when I have time! So smart!)

I'm a writer, anything you say or do may be used in a story TANK TOP! So fun!

    • Awesome!! I can’t wait for mine to come! Although, I’ve already started writing the novel and might actually be done what I have pre-planned before then. I’m not sure if it will be long enough but at least it will be all out of my head
