It’s time to crack open your advent calendars at home, and it’s time for the 2nd annual No Love For Fatties Advent Calendar.
Last year, I focused on music, and this year I’m going to focus on movies. I know – totally generic but whatever. I love Christmas movies!! And more so, the classics, the originals, the super obscure ones that I grew up watching on old VHS that we taped from the tv (yeah we totally did – don’t pretend you didn’t either!). Each day, there will be a post featuring a new movie that I enjoy watching. Maybe next year I’ll do something a little more original
Please note: there will be LOTS of gifs used so if you find them annoying, you have been warned.
Today’s movie is: Garfield’s Christmas
So this one is super classic! Garfield goes to the farm for Christmas. No…not goes to the farm, just to John’s parent’s place. No animals were hurt in the production of this cartoon.
He’s a little garfield about the whole thing, but really should we have expected anything else? He doesn’t want to go, he just sits and complains, he just wants all the presents. Until he meets grandma and finds a kindred spirit. The dad has to read the same children’s story even though his “children” are both adults, they both wake up at 1am because it’s technically Christmas morning so why can’t they open presents?! Good solid family fun. With a few touching moments mixed in.
Now as I get older, I start to relate to John and Doc Boy (Or is it dog boy? who names their child these weird names?! Pffttt celebrities…I tell ya!) a little more each year. Going home for the holidays, making sure that all the same traditions are upheld every single year, it doesn’t matter how old my brother and I get. Like Christmas morning – you’d think that as adults we would sleep in and have a normal adult morning. BUT NOOOOO I’m always in charge of breakfast so guess who is getting up and being at the table no later than 8am?! MY FAMILY THAT’S WHO! Christmas afternoon was made for naps so you are getting up early so I can open my stocking. Don’t make me fight you on this. (I’ve been threatening fights a lot lately…I apologize. I’m really not a violent person.)
ANYWAY…bottom line is that it’s great and you need to go and watch it. It’s less than 30 minutes so what is your excuse?!
