It’s time to crack open your advent calendars at home, and it’s time for the 2nd annual No Love For Fatties Advent Calendar.
Last year, I focused on music, and this year I’m going to focus on movies. I know – totally generic but whatever. I love Christmas movies!! And more so, the classics, the originals, the super obscure ones that I grew up watching on old VHS that we taped from the tv (yeah we totally did – don’t pretend you didn’t either!). Each day, there will be a post featuring a new movie that I enjoy watching. Maybe next year I’ll do something a little more original
Please note: there will be LOTS of gifs used so if you find them annoying, you have been warned.
Today’s movie is: Frosty
Now we all know that Frosty the Snowman is a holiday classic. What would Christmas be without hearing “Happy Birthday!!” from a man made of snow? It’s the best. And the little bunbun running around trying to save Frosty because his magician owner is kind of a jerk? Okies…he’s a major jerk. But Santa sets him straight! So it’s all good.
So Frosty is a no-brainer. BUT what about the other Frosty movies?! Le Brother basically disowned me for even suggesting that the other two would be on my list. But this is Frosty day so there will be ALL the Frosty’s!
The Legend of Frosty is a decent follow up to the original. Sure it is a sequel and they usually aren’t as good as the original but ya know what? I actually enjoy this sequel. It’s pretty great. Frosty takes some kids who are fed up with following stupid rules made by adults to be perfect in the perfect town and lets them break all the rules. I’m a rule breaker! Sometimes! I like how they connect the characters to the original so you can kind of see WHY some of the adults are the way they are.
Okies…and for the last one. Now, Le Brother (who has decided he is the utmost authority on the subject matter..I’m not sure who gave him the right…) says that Frosty Returns is the worst of all the Frosty’s and should be destroyed. While I’m not that harsh on it, it definitely is the worst out of all three. Frosty and some girl have to save their town from a magic spray can of snow killer. There is an ugly old dude with a cat. And Frosty is voiced by John Goodman. BUT it’s Frosty so I do still kind of enjoy it. Just not as much as the other two.
