It’s time to crack open your advent calendars at home, and it’s time for the 2nd annual No Love For Fatties Advent Calendar.
Last year, I focused on music, and this year I’m going to focus on movies. I know – totally generic but whatever. I love Christmas movies!! And more so, the classics, the originals, the super obscure ones that I grew up watching on old VHS that we taped from the tv (yeah we totally did – don’t pretend you didn’t either!). Each day, there will be a post featuring a new movie that I enjoy watching. Maybe next year I’ll do something a little more original
Please note: there will be LOTS of gifs used so if you find them annoying, you have been warned.
Today’s movie is: A Year Without Santa Claus

This movie is a little out there in terms of Christmas movies. Santa has a cold, and a backache, and gout (poor guy is just falling apart!) and he has decided that the whole world wouldn’t care if he didn’t do Christmas. I get ya, Santa. We all have bad days and days where we think we don’t matter. So Santa sends a message out to the whole world: Christmas is CANCELLED! That’s right, he just goes and cancels Christmas.
Being the doting wife that she is, Mrs. Claus is like “um heck to the no!” and sends two elves, Jingle and Jangle, out to see if they can find some Christmas cheer. I think we can all agree that with names like Jingle and Jangle, there is bound to be some trouble.
With the help of a little boy who is convinced to believe in Santa through a song, and the Miser brothers (remember them for a future post) and Mother Nature, Santa gets out of his funk and Christmas is un-cancelled.

Snow Miser, Mother Nature, Heat Miser *provided via google*
Check out the link below to watch! It’s a full hour, but worth every second.
Sounds like a fun film 🙂

All of the Rankin-Bass ones are awesome. This one… Santa Claus Is Coming to Town… yeah. Those are the best Christmas ones to watch!

YESSSSSS!!!!! This one – next to the Irish/leprachaun one – is my favorite! Mainly because I like the Miser songs. ❤ I can't wait to go home and get my copies to share with the kids!

Awww awesome!!! I had “a miser brothers Christmas” on my list but learned yesterday its from 2008 lol so i took it right off. I’ve never seen it. So I filled that space with something else.

It’s good, but it’s animated instead of what we grew up with. I much prefer all the claymation other than the animated cricket Christmas movie, the Grinch animated, and the blue toed elf one.

I’ll definitely watch it over the holidays! I’m just trying to focus my advent calendar on the ones from my childhood hehe at least the ones that I liked watching. There won’t be Charlie Brown’s Christmas on the list – for some reason I have just never really gotten into Charlie Brown? I’m not sure what it is…

It’s not on my list either to be honest. I mean I like them but they’re not ones I love.

I’m sorry! 😢 I only had 24 slots on my list so had to restrict myself to only the movies that I have to see every Christmas. Home Alone is a solid Christmas movie but its not one of my must sees. I hope we are still friends

Ahhh Home Alone is basically my only must see. It’s ok. I’ll get over it. Maybe I’ll write a blog post about it myself!
