Paint Chip Poetry

Next Sunday is the same as today, right?

In my post yesterday, I said that I would be launching a new segment on Sunday to take the place of my nail art posts since they will be stopping until around Christmas. Well, I decided to drop the information today instead – ya’ll know I basically have no self-control.

I’ve been sitting on this idea for a while now, but just haven’t been in a store to get it started. Well that all changed on Saturday when Mr Potential and I were wandering around a hardware store on our date (isn’t that what you do to celebrate a month together? A month is hardware store right? Speaking of which, the date was kind of weird and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet….). As we were wandering, we came across the paint chip wall and I just had to stop!

I saw this idea on Pinterest ages ago and knew immediately that it was something that I wanted to do. So now I’m doing it. While being totally distracted by Mr Potential, I tried to pick out some nice paint chips. I came out with 10 different papers.

Now the key to this is that they need to have the colours written on the sides. Just like this one, which has 3 colours “frolic”, “limelite” and “white citrus”.

No automatic alt text available.

You can’t see it with the picture but they are really pretty shades of greeny-yellow. It’s great!

Anyway, so you pick one of these papers and then write a poem but you have to include the names of the paint colours. That’s super awesome right?!

Like I said, I picked out 10 of them with interesting sounding colours, but two of them are going to suck – 3 out of the 4 colours on the paper have the word plum in them and then on the other, all 3 colours have the word yellow. Lame. Apparently, this is one of those times where I need to be left unsupervised instead of being distracted by other human beings?

This frolic paper is going to be my 4th post for the paint chip poetry, but I wanted a paper that had light colours so you could see the names on the side. The order will be the same as the first picture, just move the top one to the 4th place. I literally organised them by the number on the top of the card. Easy peasy.

The reason I wanted to post early about this, is because I want to invite all of you to join in! Maybe I’ll post the paint chip card and colour words on Saturday and then everyone can post their poems on Sunday? I’m not sure yet. It’s a lot harder than it seems, and for the first post (the dark red) I had to write 2 little poems because I was being pulled in both a lovey-dovey and an angry panda place with the words that were given.

So that’s what will be happening here on NLFF every weekend for the next little bit. I hope you’ll join in!

As a complete side note, apparently, today is my Word Press anniversary. I started this blog in August on a different site (which is what I consider my actual anniversary) before it crashed and burned and died. Thankfully, not before I was able to get my posts off of it and start all over again over here. So happy anniversary to you Word Press.
