Alright, ya’ll. I’m going to admit it. I kind of phoned this letter in. P….so many choices and this is what I pick?!! Same with O. I didn’t put much effort in. I know, I know! You are all thinking “for shame T! for shame!”. And I deserve it. These weren’t even last minute posts…I’ve had them written for at least a month. I have no excuses.
We are only introduced to a small handful of the professors that worked at Hogwarts during the course of the books, so here is (what I hope to be) a complete list:
Transfiguration: Minerva McGonagall*
Potions: Severus Snape*, Horace Slughorn*
Defence Against the Dark Arts: Quirrell, Lockhart, Lupin, Barty Crouch Jr. (disguised as Moody), Umbridge, Snape, Amycus Carrow
Flying/Quidditch: Madam Hooch
Charms: Flitwick*
Herbology: Sprout*
Care of Magical Creatures: Kettleburn, Hagrid, Gubbly-Plank
Astronomy – Sinistra
Arithmancy – Vector
History of Magic – Binns (the only ghost)
Divination – Trelawny, Frienz
Ruins – Bathsheba Babbling
Muggle Studies – Burbage
Infirmary – Pomfrey
Librarian – Pince
Headmaster – Dumbledore, Umbridge, Snape, McGonagall
Those with * beside their names also functioned as Head of House
That’s pretty amazing you came up with that list. Very cool.

You really have to stop, I’m going to have to end up re-reading them all again… I don’t have that kind of time LOL

haha! Only a week and a half left and then there will be a HP break. I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed with all the HP I’ve been sucked into lately. The break will be much appreciated by the end of the month.

I would’ve loved to have some of these as my actual teachers when I was at school. 🙂

When we got our cat I wanted to name it Poppy Pomfrey, but alas it was a boy. I just love the alliteration of the name. WeekendsInMaine

Oooo you could have switched the first name to a different P name! Peter, parker, piper… So cute! What did you end up naming him?

My daughter is a big Criminal Minds fan so his name is Supervisory Special Agent David Rossi, or Rossi for short.

It’s a good thing cats ignore their names being called half the time anyway, could you imagine having to answer to that name (the long version) on a regular basis? 😛 I love Criminal Minds too, but I would probably gone with Spencer or Derek for a boy, Penelope or JJ for a girl (Emily wouldn’t work, I’d just think of Bronte instead of Prentiss every time 😛 )…Aaron/Erin would have worked too, the same name either way just spelled differently depending on gender. 😀
Just in case people don’t know (or remember), the Muggle Studies teacher’s full name was Charity Burbage, and she and Severus were actually friends, so for him to have to sit there and do nothing while Voldemort killed her was just one more thing he had to hate himself for.
Technically I guess Poppy Pomfrey and Madam Pince (was her first name Irma or something like that?) weren’t really professors, but they were on staff, so they deserve to be on the list…by that token so does Argus Filch (and by extension Mrs. Norris), although many students would be more than happy to see him gone. 😛
“Ruins” professor, I love it, although Hermione would probably go off on a rant, especially if it was Ron saying it. 😛
I think it’s appropriate that the Astronomy professor’s first name is Aurora, since Aurora is Goddess of the Dawn in Greek mythology (and the first two letters of her name, Au, are the symbol for Gold on the Periodic Table of Elements). Not sure if there’s any significance in Professor Vector’s first name being Septima (the Arithmancy professor), “sept” means seven, and arithmancy deals with numbers, but other than that if there’s a connection I’m missing it.
Yes I know, I’ve read the books way too many times, I keep remembering all the little trivia that no one else does (or cares about). 😛

Lol you defintiely know a lot more than I do about them! I just took a look at one of my sources listed on my home page to complete my list here. Definitely didn’t put too much effort into it
