It must be award season because I have been nominated once again!
Nominations make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, so I love to respond to them. But I generally also break half the rules. I was super proud of myself for following all the rules for the First Post thing, but this time, I’m going to break some rules.
Here are the official rules:
But I shan’t be doing number 5 or 6. If you’re reading this, take this as your nomination! That’s right YOU ALL are nominated. Don’t let me down. folks.
My blog started just as a personal journal. I never intended for anyone to read it or to follow it, but then I started to get followers and through some blogging U courses, I found my “writer’s voice” and now here I am. A lovely example of unicorns and cupcakes for the whole world to read and (hopefully not) ridicule.
My pieces of advice to new bloggers:
- Write what you love. All of us will have some moments of writer’s block or lack of enthusiasm over our blogs. I’ve had it a few times over the past year and a half, but eventually, I worked through it because I just love writing my blog. I can’t not write now and that’s something I’m really proud of. But if I wasn’t writing about something that I loved to write about, I’d lose interest in about half a nano-second.
- Don’t get all hung up over the statistics. I totally got sucked into my stats the first year I was blogging and it made me go insane!
- *BONUS* interact with your blogging community. People who like and/or comment on your blog. Reply to them, go visit their blogs, follow back if it’s something you’re interested in. There are some super amazing bloggers and people out there (nodding in your direction there Rob), and it’s a shame to just have a solitary existence as a blogger. It’s the people who keep my motivated to write and come back.
Well, there ya have it! Two nominations in one week and a heart full of happiness because of it.
