There are only a few days left in 2016, so let’s take a look at some stats from WordPress.
I have been really good at not looking at my stats lately. I just lost interest in them. Which is a really good thing for me. I use to waste so much time going to my stats page and checking in on how many people were reading, and where they were from. Now I think I have finally settled. Which is nice.
But I have found the “year” stats page, so let’s take a little look at those results (I even uploaded the pictures like a normal person instead of copy and pasting!)
I am so shocked at the number of views I have had this year! Almost 11,000!! Look at the tiny little bar for 2015. Although I didn’t sign up for WordPress until October of 2015. It has been a great year interacting with all of you!
Here are the top 10 countries that have visited this blog over the last year. The list of countries does continue, all the way down to just “1 view” per country. Including places I had literally never heard of. Mauritius or Martinique anyone?
And of course the search terms. Last year I didn’t have any stats for search terms. Then I found out how to make my blog searchable so here we are! I did open up the “view all” and I am kind of shocked. As you can see here, there are a lot for the Hiddleswift drama this past year, but in the full results, a lot of sexual searches. I guess internet fatties is a fetish group?
I am also currently up to 311 followers! Woo to the Hoo!
The one thing about my stats this year that won’t show up on my stats page, is the amount of spam I get. Currently, Akismet has “saved” me from 462 comments. At least 30 over the last three days. I recently changed my security settings to have more control over this function, and what I have learned is that, for some reason, one of my posts gets 99.9% of the spam comments. I haven’t exactly figured out why it’s so popular.
It’s called New Things Brewing.
I posted it at the end of May when I was feeling a little burnt out. I had just finished about 5 months of straight challenges – personal ones, A to Z, blogging U courses – and I was tired. I needed to take the pressure off of myself when writing. It’s also when I started my Life Lately posts.
The thing I don’t quite understand is why spammers find this particular post all the time. There are no tags on it at all, and the material in it is most definitely not search-worthy. It is just a reflection piece. a question for the universe I think!
How have your yearly stats stacked up? Do you also inspire weird sexual searches for your blog when you don’t post sexual content? Do you have one post that seems to be getting more attention than any others for no apparent reason?
Thanks to all you amazing Giggling Followers for making 2016 a great blogging year for me!
