Senseless Tragedy

What the actual fuck.

Just a few weeks before Christmas and the small town my parents live in (where I have spent 3 out of the last 5 years) has been hit hard. A few days ago, there was a car accident on one of the main highways just out of town. Resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl, and a 19-year-old guy being sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

I had met the girl a few times since she worked at the local Tim Hortons. The same portal to hell where I worked when I lived in town. But she worked there after I quit. Even hardly knowing her, I’m affected and filled with sadness over it. It’s such a waste of a life. The whole town is feeling the loss. Being such a small town, everyone is affected.

But I’m also filled with anger! It could have been completely avoided if the driver didn’t decide to drive on a loose gravel shoulder instead of slowing down for the 30 seconds it takes for a car to turn left at that corner. But no, he decided to take the shoulder around and then lost control of his car, swerving into on-coming traffic and then being hit by a Brinks van. A fully armoured truck the banks use to transfer money.

  1. I hate when things like this happen. Most car accidents are senseless-people not thinking/paying attention, or too big of a rush. I feel like if everyone just slowed down and thought of others instead of themselves, we’d have so many less accidents.
