Quote Inspiration

Have you seen A Walk To Remember? I’m sure you have, what a silly question to ask. I used to love that movie when I was younger, watched it over and over and over. But one thing in the movie always caught my attention – the book that Mandy Moore’s mother left for her.

Do you remember that book? It was green and had all these bookmarks sticking out of it? It was filled with quotes and Bible verses that she loved and that she wanted to pass onto her daughter. I want a book like that.

I actually started one during my first stay in Korea 5 years ago. I was reading my Bible from the start to finish, one chapter a day. I would write down verses that stuck out to me. I was also getting a “quote a day” email from a website. If the quote really spoke to me then I would add it into that book.

When I was moving way back in November, I was cleaning out my room and found that book. I hadn’t written in it in years. In the back it even had a list of potential names for the children that I now probably don’t even want. But I did create this post where I shared a few of the quotes that I really really love. This one, being the signature in my personal emails, and one of my all time favourite quotes:

Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better then when you found it

~ Wilferd Peterson

I decided to take that cute little owl book I bought last week and start another quote book. It’s exactly what I would want it to be. A snap closure, a ribbon book mark already in the book, brown paper pages with no lines on them. It’s perfect. I even picked up fine tipped pens yesterday so I could make my writing smaller in it.

I copied out all those quotes, and then also went through my own personal poetry that I started here on NLFF. It was way back in December when I took the poetry course through Blogging U, and haven’t really written anything since. It’s not exactly my strong suit, I am much more suited for prose. Although I do get the random poetic urge now and then.

I just thought I’d share with you one of my favourite things I have written in my poetry section. There are quite a few that I am proud of, but not all of them made it into my hand written book. But this one, I just love.

Colours of My Spirit

My spirit is the colour of bliss,
Yellow, orange, and pink.
Happiness oozing from fingertips,
Positive energy a vital link.

My spirit is the colour of hope,
Early morning blue.
Soft transition at twilight,
Into the softest hue.

My spirit is the colour of renewal,
Distinguished, mossy green.
Blades of grass, fresh budded leaves,
Life force most serene.

My spirit is the colour of passion,
Sultry, sensual red.
Two bodies intertwined together,
Upon a silky bed.

My spirit is the colour of peace,
Soft and gentle violet.
Balancing of emotions,
Harmony is most accurate.

My spirit is the colour of pain,
Hatred in darkest black.
Shadows waiting to take over,
Never allowed to stage an attack.

My spirit is the colour of light,
Reflective rainbow prism.
Spectrum fully covered,
Grasping at contented optimism.
