Writing the Scene

Today’s task, to let the scene write itself. I was very much uninspired by my surroundings today. Still in the middle of a wind warning (up to 90km/h) and just a very gross day. My mind immediately wandered to what I wished it was. So I wrote this instead, and then found a picture from my own personal collection that is exactly what my mind was talking about.

Early morning calm across the water,
Peaceful, still.
Reflective rays off the surface,
Stand, breathing in the sunlight.

Gentle creak of aging wood,
Water lapping against the dock.
A plastic thud,
The canoe swaying repeatedly on the waves.

Loons calling to each other,
A dove sings her morning song.
A rustle of leaves,
As the trees awaken to the morning.

good morning
